Did you know that it has been scientifically proven that just one plant in a workspace can reduce both stress and anxiety in employees?

According to a study done in 2010 by the University of New Technology in Sydney, the results of adding plants to the workplace resulted in a 37% decrease in tension and anxiety, a 58% drop in depression, a 44% decrease in anger and hostility AND a 38% reduction in fatigue!

If this isn’t reason enough, they’re also been reported by the University of Exeter in 2014 as being responsible for a 15% increase in productivity when added to a once bare work space!

If you’re still not on the plant train (Gawd knows why you wouldn’t be) then, another study by Human Spaces in 2015 found that people who had live plants in their workspace (vs. those without) had a 15% higher wellbeing score (meaning, they don’t get as sick or need as many days off to hide under the covers).

If all of this isn’t reason enough to deck out your office with as much greenery as you can, we’ve also compiled a few other reasons for you:

  1. They’re pretty – like that isn’t reason enough!
  2. They purify the air to keep you breathing in the fresh stuff
  3. They help to reduce noise levels (they absorb sound – true story)
  4. They can boost creativity (there’s a whole study on this too)

So, head to your closest Bunnings, pick up a few pots from Kmart and deck out your office space people. Plants are important!
