A heads-up to our clients, October is one of the busiest months of the year for white collar permanent placements so don’t waste another minute, it’s time to get cracking.

There are excellent reasons for jumping on your recruitment needs sooner rather than later, as we’ll point out below.

End of financial year triggers

Once the dust has settled on EOFY matters, attention turns to budget resets. Your finance teams may have determined where funds can be allocated, with human resources being a consideration.

At this time of year, all kinds of career movements are being made. Businesses tightening their proverbial belts may be reducing their workforces, leaving talent seeking new roles. Meanwhile, businesses experiencing growth may be creating roles or repositioning existing staff via promotions and relocations.

What all of this means is that there is always a traffic system of people moving around, either with their current employers or moving to start with new ones.

Important timing for December commencements

Typically, our recruitment campaigns run between two and six weeks. Any positions vacant are advertised, talent mapping commences, we’re tapping on shoulders of the passive market, applications are received, appropriate candidates are selected, interviewed and short-listed and finally, negotiations are carried out. Once the position is filled, the new hire may be required to serve a notice period of up to four weeks in their current role before they can commence their new one. That brings us into December which, depending on your industry, may or may not be the ideal first month for your new team member.

Employers, if you have a permanent placement to fill by the end of the year, start now! Don’t let this precious time slip by. Candidates, picture yourself settled in a new and exciting position before the year is out.

New Year commencements

For many reasons, December may not be the ideal time for a new hire to start. January could be your preferred commencement month because the onboarding process coincides with fresh new energy and your workforce is all back from Christmas holidays. That fits well with a lot of candidates who may be looking to take the next step in their career at the start of the New Year.

If January 2020 is your goal, contact us today anyway! We could be talent pooling right now and lining up the best candidates for your role.

Snap up that perfect candidate before someone else does!

Another excellent reason to start early when you have an upcoming role to fill is that the net can be cast wider, as and if required. The longer the lead-in time, the better chance there is to catch that perfect candidate.
